There are three types of reputation management and both are important to your business…
If someone writes a bad review on you or your company, or someone fills out a “rip off report” on you or your company, you could be in for a long hard road of trying to repair you or your company’s online image!
Rip off reports are impossible to get removed. Anyone can fill one out, and the rip off report company will not take it down easily. Their sites are very strong, so when someone types in your name on Google, your rip off report may be the first thing that a potential customer or client may see. To remedy this you can do reverse SEO or reputation management to at least try to bump that rip off report down and get it off of the first page. You can do this by creating different listings to take its place and bump it down.
Make sure that you have good reviews online!
Google places, Yelp, yellowpages.com, superpages.com, and several other referring sites allow you to put up reviews. Business 101 would tell you to make every customer happy and resolve any issues with customers to ensure that you get good reviews online. Also, ask your customers who you know (that are satisfied) to write a good online review for your company. Offer the customer a discount or incentive to do it, and it may make them take the time to do it. Lastly, should you get a bad review, make sure you respond under it telling your side of the story. You are not going to please everyone (and some people can be difficult) but if you can follow a few of these guidelines it can make a world of difference online.
When you do a search for your name on Google, Yahoo, and Bing…
Every result on the first page should be your website, your name, and your company. No one else should come back relevant for your name. Now there could be some variance if there is another company out there with the same name as you, but you should make sure you are on every directory possible and have your website coded properly as well to increase your chances of this.
